Shameka and Eric
Eric and I met in a bar/lounge called Aubettes in Manhattan while we were each playing wingman to a friend. After having a long hard day, I wasn’t in the mood to meet anyone or be pleasant but Eric kicked up the old Boston charm. By the next day I couldn’t stop thinking about him and after lunch the next day, we were inseparable.
Eric proposed on my birthday at Ruth Chris’s Steakhouse in DC by having the waitress place the ring on top of my favorite dessert and then dropping to his knee. We decided to go with a theme for our wedding which was “New York Chic meets Old Hollywood Glamour.” We wanted a fun wedding that was classic yet modern.
I knew the moment I stepped in to Newton White Mansion that I wanted my wedding to be there because of the beautiful atrium. We went with a black and white color scheme and added Red to make it pop. We used 3 shades of red roses, our table setting was black and white damask table runners over black pintuk linens and red water goblets. All the table names were titles from Prince songs (the bride’s favorite). We also incorporated a candy station of our favorite candy and an old school “photo station” where guests could take candid photos.
To go with our “Chic meets Glamour” theme Pereda Photography took us to a local airport to get some incredible shots with the airplanes as the back drop and they turned out beautifully!
I can honestly say, that I have never been more happy and secure and in-love in my entire life. And what’s more exciting is that with each passing day, I still find new reasons to love him!
Thank you to the vendors that help make our day special. Also, special thanks to Pereda Photography for capturing our day perfectly!
